Here today…gone tomorrow

I was informed tonight I deploy tomorrow. I hope to be back in a few weeks. Please keep me and my family in your prayers.
I hope to be strong in the Lord and use this time for His glory. In these uncertain times I hope to meditate on His Word.
Psalm 91
1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say [b] of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”
3 Surely he will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence.
4 He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
5 You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day,
6 nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday.
7 A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you.
8 You will only observe with your eyes and see the punishment of the wicked.
9 If you make the Most High your dwelling—even the LORD, who is my refuge-
10 then no harm will befall you, no disaster will come near your tent.
11 For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways;
12 they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread upon the lion and the cobra; you will trample the great lion and the serpent.
14 “Because he loves me,” says the LORD, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
15 He will call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life will I satisfy him and show him my salvation.”

OOC,
You and your family are now right at the top of my prayer list. I will ask my homeschooling friends to pray for all of you, too. I know God will send His angels to look after you and your dear ones…I pray He’ll keep you safe and send you home soon.

James 1: 2-3
Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.
These have been words to live by this week. I was told one evening that I was deploying early the next morning. I went home and broke the news to my beautiful wife and three beautiful children. My wife’s reaction left me breathless; calm, strong and full of grace.
The plan changed…several times…and here I am. I’m not saying my family wasn’t stressed this week, but it’s interesting to reflect now that I’m not leaving.
I was able to see what my family goes through each time the military requires “impromptu travel plans”. I was able to see the joy on my girls’ faces when news came I wasn’t leaving. I was able to appreciate our family dinner more than I have in a long time. I was able to tuck my daughters in bed tonight. I was able to talk and pray with a friend in need and I was able to show a peer how God can add strength in uncertain times.
Thank you for your post and prayers NP! OOC

OOC,
I am so glad to hear you are safe at home! We’ve been down this road once or twice ourselves. It’s hard to see God’s plan at those times, but trusting in Him is always the best way to go. I’m very thankful to hear your good news, and I can just see those beautiful little faces, shining with happiness!
