About
Imagine a war…A war in which one side continually devises new attacks and executes them. The other side hunkers down and hopes for the best while expending all efforts to defend themselves. Who will ultimately win?
Welcome to the War.
For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. - Ephesians 6:12

Christianity has always been offensive

[...] Extra Link: A New Nadir Wow! I didn’t think people were really like this but I guess I should have learned not to underestimate the possibilities of human thought. [...]

Dogeatery,
I agree. The message that we are all sinful creatures that are only concerned with ourselves and are determined to be our own gods is offensive to us.
We are rebels at heart and don’t want anyone else telling us what to do or how to live. Of course a rightful ruler who is holy and must judge us to enforce His justice is offensive.
It is particularly offensive in this day to advocate for one truth.
Yep, We’re Offensive Christians™ but we still are called to love you and we do or we wouldn’t be sharing what we believe is the only way to spare you or anyone eternal suffering.
Thanks for stopping by. The Nader nadir thing was a cute touch. I was a humanist once a but I realized that it wasn’t the zenith.

OC,
Religious beliefs can’t keep you from death any more than money, political power, or other ego projects can. Even sex only has the power to carrying your genes to the next generation. You, yourself, are toast eventually no matter how you slice it. Just like everyone else. You can only extend your life so much by living on the straight and narrow, and many times not at all… if you are unlucky enough to be born a Jew in Nazi Germany, for example.
Now that’s the real hard truth that few can accept, and Christianity is part of that denial. I’m curious to see whether you can back up your boast that you can face offensive truths by facing this one, or if you’ll switch to “well, it doesn’t matter if God doesn’t exist, we still need to believe even falsehoods to avoid apparent ‘meaninglessness.’”

to Hume: Your post doesn’t sound like you have a clear understanding of what a Christian is & believes. The whole tenet of the Christian faith is that of resurrection. Jesus is the resurrection & the life. Once one comes to an understanding of who Christ is and why He died & that He rose again & sits at the right hand of the Father; then and only then, can a person begin to understand what life actually is. You see, death isn’t what you think it is. You think death is your physical body dying. That is not death. Humans are spiritual beings living inside of mortal, physical bodies. Christianity is concerned with the spiritual man. If you’re not spiritual, it’s because you are spiritually dead and cannot discern the things of life; therefore, you think it doesn’t exist because all you can perceive is physical things. The only way to life is through Jesus Christ. He is the way, the truth & the life. The instant you understand & accept this, light will enter your body & illuminate your understanding. This is a state we Christians refer to as justified. The rest of the physical life here on this planet is a sanctification, where one is born again into newness of life, the spiritual being. Death cannot touch the alive person in Christ. Our bodies will die, but our spirit man will not. There is a resurrection whereby we will receive our eternal bodies, glorified and not subjected to the corruption that is in physical creation. If you can’t discern this it’s because there is no life in you. Ask God to give you life. Life & death are spiritual states of being. Physical events manifest spiritual truths, but the spirit realm is the reality. This is why Jesus spoke to us in parables. He uses natural creation to show us spiritual truths because the physical is all we can see until we are born again. May He have mercy on your soul. I hope you can begin to understand or at least admit that you don’t know as much as you think you know. That is a good place to begin. Would you like to be made alive? Take a closer look at Jesus. Ask God to open your understanding & read the whole bible, starting with the New Testament.

OC,
I’m not sure I understand the goal of this Offensive Christians site - the “About” blurb is a bit brief to be considered comprehensive. Is the object of creating and maintaining this site to defend Christian beliefs against those who would seek to demean, diminish, or destroy them? Or is it missionary in nature, to offer criticism (assumed constructive, though I’m sure that is difficult to assure when anyone can post on such a controversial topic) of the beliefs of those who choose to be non-Christian for the purpose of converting them to Christian beliefs?

R.A.H.,
Yes.
Do you have any suggestions?
